It’s a new year and that means new ideas! So this year here at Blogging From the Edge of Eternity I’m starting a new game. It’s time for the first installment of “What Haven’t I.”
For the first installment I’ll focus on theater related questions. Some months there might be a theme, some months it might just be random silliness. Either way, 3 of the 4 things listed I will have honestly done. 1 of the things, I have not. If you follow my blog, you should be able to answer some of these questions.
There are no rules really, just read the questions, the multiple choice answers and guess which thing among the four listed you think – I have not. There’s only a few questions so it won’t take much of your time. Record your answers in the comments section below, because on January 30th, I’ll be awarding the first person with the most correct answers with a lovely prize. You can’t win if you don’t play.
I hope you have some fun and learn a little more about me in the process. Remember, you must put your answers in the comments section below in order to qualify for the prize. Oh, and you must check back to see if you’ve won because I will not contact the winner unless they acknowledge on my blog that they’ve won. Sort of like, you must be present to win.
Oh, one more rule – Husband, you cannot play this first round. (You won’t like the prize anyway.) As always general comments are welcome if you choose not to play along.
So without further ado, let the games begin:
#1 – What show haven’t I been in?
a) Anything Goes; b) Annie Get Your Gun; c) Once Upon a Mattress; or d) Camelot
#2 – What form of dance haven’t I studied?
a) Polynesian; b) Clogging; c) Belly Dance; or d) Irish
3# – What song haven’t I sang on stage?
a) Downtown; b) Oh Holy Night; c) Moonshine Lullaby; or d) Play The Game
#4 – What character haven’t I played on stage?
a) A boy; b) A hobo; c) A harlot; or d) A Queen
#5 – What costume haven’t I worn on stage?
a) Suit of armor; b) Cat suit; c) Nun’s habit; or d) Neglige
#6 – Which thing have I not done on stage during a performance?
a) Smoked a cigarette; b) Kissed a girl; c) Disrobed; or d) Fired a gun
#7 – Which role haven’t I performed:
a) Director; b) Choreographer; c) Lighting Designer; or d) Costume mistress
So there you go. Good luck! I look forward to your guesses.
Word of the Day: Ogee
Fun fact about me: I used to make my own clothes (this might be a hint)
Okay I’m playing!
Here’s my answers: C, A, C,D,C,D,C
I hope you’re grading on an ogee. I’m taking great liberty with the definition. 🙂

Hi Colleen – good to see you and thanks for playing. I can tell you that you got more than 1 right. Don’t forget to check back on the 30th to see how you did!
Not quite the right use for ogee, but I’ll let it slide because you attempted to use it.

I used to make some of my own clothes, too! Sewing is one of those things I love to do but just don’t have time for any more. No costumes, though – just ordinary dresses, tops, slacks. 😀

Hi Jennette.
Good guesses. You got more than one right. I hope you’ll check back in on the 30th to see if you’re a winner.
I started sewing when I was a tiny little thing, around 8 I think. I used to make my own Barbie clothes, which isn’t easy considering the size of those garments. In high school I used to make every single gunnysax dress I could get my hands on (the patterns) and almost all of my tops. Weird thing though, I hate doing alterations. I will pay someone to make alerations instead of doing it myself.
Thanks for stopping by.

Gee, I have come to all of your blog posts and can’t answer even one of these questions. Just count me as someone who enjoyed reading what you haven’t and have done. 🙂

Hey Paisley – thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment anyway. I hope you’ll come back on the 30th to see the answers. It might be eye-opening.

I want to know how come I haven’t been invited to see you perform? What’s next for you?

Since I’ve been writing I don’t have time to perform or rehearse or even audition. I’ll let you know if something comes up.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Madeline and thanks for taking the time to swing on by the Edge of Eternity tonight. I’m glad you decided to play the game. You also have at least 1 answer correct!
I hope you’ll drop by on the 30th to see who wins and what the correct answers are. That should be enlightening to my fellow rosers.

Okay, I’ll take a stab at it: I’ll guess that you’ve never been in Annie Get Your Gun, while Polynesian dancing to Moonshine Lullabye, wearing a negligee, with no gun and no choreographer. Also: Colonel Mustard, in the library, with the candlestick.
Did I win? 😉
LOL, great ice-breaker, Jansen/Patricia!

Hi Kathy!
Did you win? Well you’ll have to pop on back on the 30th to see the answers posted. Remember, you must be present to win.
I’d say, given your attempt, you have a shot because somewhere in that mix is a smidgeon of the truth. I think.
Colonel Mustard in the library yes, but he’d never stoop so low as to using a candlestick. He’s a Harvard man after all.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

Hi Patricia! Listen, your post on Facebook for some reason didn’t connect to your site. Well, actually it didn’t transmit the write web address. Weird? So when I saw it I shared your post and put the correct web address and voila! I’m here! Hopefully it helps. Anyway, I’ll play too. Here it goes. And I’m only guessing because I haven’t a clue girl. B,C,D,D,C,D,D. See you soon! 🙂

Hi Karen and thanks for the FB help. I am so not tech savvy. Something’s wrong with the FB connection on my wordpress site and I don’t know how to fix it. I think the link to Twitter is still okay, which should also post to FB but maybe the link got broken somewhere along the line.
Thanks for fixing it so you could find me and thanks for stopping by and playing along. You got at least one right! I hope you’ll stop back by on the 30th to see the correct answers and see if you won!

I know about half of these and the other half I’d be guessing on. What is up with that? Did I miss the posts or is my brain getting fuzzy? Maybe both. But what I want to know is if that picture is you up there dancing? What a sexy little thing! 😉

Hi Debra and thanks for stopping by. Some of these answers would have to be purely guesses unless you’ve known me personally for a long long time. Even my husband didn’t get them all right, which actually surprised me. I have mentioned several of the answers in my blog, on FB and in response to other’s folks’ blogs where I have left comments. So, unless you’re stalking me, you probably wouldn’t know all of the answers. I can say that one of the respondents above got more than 3 right.
I am not the beautiful lady in the picture dancing, nor am I the person in the suit of armor, although one of those things I have done in almost the exact manner as shown in the picture. I can’t say which one yet. You’ll have to check back on the 30th to see the answers.
Hope to see you again on the 30th!

Well hello Miss Judy. So nice to see your smiling face over here at the Edge of Eternity.
Yes – I will remind folks on the 30th, probably on FB and the Loop.
You got multiple answers correct so you’ll want to check back! Good guessing.
I’ll see you on the 30th.

And the answers are:
#1 – A (While I was not in Anything Goes, I was the costume mistress for the show at our local community theater. I played Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun, I was a harlot in Once Upon A Mattress, and I was a fair maiden in the chorus in Camelot.)
#2 – C (I have never taken any belly dancing classes.)
#3 – B (I have been in several Christmas musicals but have never sang O Holy Night on stage. I sang Downtown and Play the Game in 2 different Best of Broadway productions and I sang Moonshine Lullaby when I was Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun.)
#4 – D (I have never played a queen. I was a boy in a melodrama but I can’t for the life of me remember the title of the play; I played the charwoman (hobo) in A Christmas Carol; and I was a harlot in Once Upon a Mattress)
#5 – A (I have never worn a suit of armor. I wore a cat suit when I played a cat in the manger scene in Jeannette Isabella, an original Christmas musical; I’ve worn a nun’s habit several times, both on stage and on camera; and I wore a neglige in Once Upon a Mattress, when I played the harlot.) It should be noted that no knights were harmed in the taking of that photo.
#6 – B – (I have never kissed a girl, although I came close in the melodrama where I played a boy. I smoked, disrobed and fired a gun all in the same show, Early One Evening At the Rainbow Bar and Grill.)
#7 – This one is actually a trick question, but I gave credit it someone answered C because after I posted this blog, I remembered that I did in fact design lights for a show that I wrote, directed and choreographed called Land That I love. (I have also operated the lighting board for several shows my husband directed. I directed Meet Me In St. Louis and several melodrama productions, I choreographed Godspell and Tumbleweeds as well as several children’s production, and I was costume mistress for Anything Goes.)
So there you have it.
And the winner is:
Madeline got 4 right – so she is the winner for most correct answers.
But, the first person who responds to this comment is also a winner so leave another comment and look check back for my acknowledgment to receive your prize!
Colleen got 2 right
Jennette got 2 right
Susie only got the trick question right (figures, she’s a smarty pants that way)
Madeline got 4 right
Karen got 2 right
Judy got 3 right
Good guesses ladies! Leave me your comments to receive your prize(s).
