Ah, springtime! Welcome back birds.

So many awesome things to enjoy. As I sit here daydreaming writing, I close my eyes and imagine how wonderful it would be to sit here:

and enjoy a cocktail write.
I should be doing this:

But I’d rather be doing this:

Sailing on Lake Tahoe
Or even just this:

But instead, I’m working diligently on my 2013 vacation plans current work in progress.
Nothing sabotages a writing career faster than the advent of spring. We should be writing, we want to write, creative ideas are hitting fast and furious. But the temptation to go outside and play is strong. The lure of warm sunshine and fragrant flowers calls to our subconscious. Thoughts turn to gardening, sun bathing, long walks, dining on the patio and for me – vacation!
While I’m torturing my characters with attending funerals, mucking out horse stalls, and hiding from evil step-sisters, I’m really torturing myself with thoughts of being here:

That’s right, I’ve been visited by the ghosts of vacations past. They remind me that instead of sitting here gathering wool writing, I could be here:

And what trip down memory lane would be complete without a visit from the ghost of Disney vacations past?

So as spring makes it way into my little corner of the world, I shall savor it’s presence and bask in the rebirth of creativity and as new life springs forth from the earth. My mood word count will improve and my house will get cleaned muse will awaken and all thoughts will be of vacation writing “the end.”
Here’s hoping you all have a very productive springtime!
Word of the day: Raffish
Fun fact about me: One summer I worked at a B & B.

I ADORE spring! It’s so fresh and ripe with hope and sunshine. And, of course it means we’ll be on the lake soon! I hope it also means a whole lot of writing done as well.
Loved your photos!

Hi Ginger. I know how you adore warm weather. And your time at the lake is always well spent. I’m looking foward to a few small get-aways myself very soon.
Thanks for stopping by. Now get back to that WIP!

What lovely photos! No signs of spring here in Ohio yet – it was snowing when I left for work! (I’m thankful it stopped before anything stuck). Still, there are plenty of distractio.s to contend with…

Believe it or not, Jennette, but about a week or so ago we had 8 inches of snow on the ground too. Springtime in Northern California is very fickle indeed. Almost always the daffodils and other blooming bulbs get weighted down by snow at least once.
Thanks for stopping by today. I’m sure spring is just around the corner in your neck of the woods.

I want to know what exciting vacation ideas, um, I mean plot twists, you’ve come up with. I love the spirit of renewal and possibility spring brings.

Hi, Pat. So nice to see your smiling face over here at Blogging From the Edge of Eternity!
Vacation plans? Whatever do you mean? I’ve not even given it a passing thought. I’m sure, if I really put my mind to it, I can come up with an idea or two that will probably involve a mouse and a magical kingdom, but vacation is not on the distant horizon in the Rickrode household. We may get away later in the year, after school starts back up again, but for the time being, I’m just sitting here dreaming. And writing. I really am writing. Really. I am.

Great photos, Patricia. I’m afraid to think it is spring yet, because there are still patches of snow on the ground. I don’t usually venture out too much because of hayfever in the spring, but I do get an urge to paint a wall or two. It’s a freshen up time for me and I am hoping these old knees are going to cooperate this year or the paint may dry up and die on me. Hoping you get to take all the vacations you want this year. 🙂

I know exactly what you mean about “freshening up,” Paisley. I still have 2 rooms in my house that haven’t been painted since we moved in and I’m getting the itch to open up those rooms once and for all, paint the walls, and put away the stuff still sitting in boxes on the floor. I will accomplish that project before summer sets it.
I will also finish my current WIP before the onslaught of summer as well. I have lots of ideas that need to be on the page and I will put them there.
As always, thanks for stopping by my dear. It’s so lovely to see your beautiful face in my comments section.

You’re such a talented photographer. Your pictures are beautiful, and I love the post. You made me laugh out loud. I’m currently watching the birds on the back patio. No, I mean I’m writing.

Writing. Of course you are. I’m writing too. Well, today I really am. But it’s cold and dreary and rainy so it’s the perfect day to write. In fact I’m querying today too, so keep your fingers crossed.
And I can’t take credit for all of those photos since my sweet hubby took the ones of me. But then again, he had a good subject so how could he screw that up? (Ha)
Thanks for stopping by and having a laugh. I really appreciate your support.

Your photos made me smile!! And I’ve been furiously writing/planning a vacation….funny how that works. But I am pretty sure you and I are both model tourists–polite and happy as we enjoy other locales–unlike the unwanted, raffish tourists, right? 🙂 Happy almost spring!

Oh yes, I am the ideal tourist. I don’t push, shove, cut in line, take more than my share. I’m so polite I think tourist locations should invite me to visit them.
I hope you have a lovely vacation this year. It’s always nice to see your pictures from your travels. I’m pretty sure we’re going to see the big mouse in Florida again this year.
Happy spring to you too, Colleen and thank you for your support.

Great pix, Patricia! The blossoms on the trees are just stunning right now. We’re so lucky to live in California, aren’t we? If I were back in Chicago (where I grew up), I’d be shoveling my way out the driveway right now!

Hi Suzanne and thanks for visiting today.
I’m not getting any blossoms yet up at my house, but down here in the valley it’s sure looking pretty. I love those pink trees and they’re everywhere.
Shoveling snow is not something I’d enjoy although I have had to do my share on occasion. So far this year, I’ve lucked out and not had to shovel. Chicago can keep their snow.
