It’s time for the next installment of What Haven’t I. I can sense your excitement all the way over here.
As some of you know, I recently celebrated my birthday and my ten-year wedding anniversary. My husband was generous to a fault with gifts this year, and we were able to arrange our work schedules so that we could spend three entire days together doing nothing but fun stuff.
Day one found us in San Francisco doing everything touristy and cheesy. Yes, we ate crab cocktails on the wharf, we stopped and watched the sea lions lounge in the sun, we explored the wax museum and ate an awesome dinner at Scoma’s on Fisherman’s Wharf.
For day two we went the opposite direction and spent a idyllic afternoon at the south shore of Lake Tahoe. We relaxed on the paddlewheeler around Emerald Bay and drank Tahoe sweet teas. We played a little Let It Ride poker and craps and then enjoyed a lovely buffet dinner at the top of Harrah’s while we watched it rain.
On day three we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, went to a matinee and had an awesome dinner complete with chocolate martini and creme brulee for dessert.
So in honor of three days of relaxaing fun, I’m devoting this episode of What Haven’t I to random experiences I have enjoyed, or not enjoyed, thus far in life. It’s up to you to decide, which thing I haven’t done. You all know the rules by now, just post your guesses in the comments section below and check back on the 23rd to see how many you got right. So, here are the random things:

4. What haven’t I eaten: a) Grasshopper; b) Alligator; c) Turtle; or d) Snake?
5. What haven’t I ever tried on: a) Hoop skirt; b) Boxing gloves; c) Bulletproof vest; or d) Football helmet?
I’m anxious to read your guesses. And I ask you, what silly random thing have you experenced that would surprise your kids, your parents, your high school teachers, your neighbors? Let me know. I won’t tell anybody – I promise.

Fun fact about me: My brother and I used to dare each other to jump off the roof of our house. Yes, we each did it. More than once.

I can’t decide if that photo is a clue or a trick:-) Either way I’m voting 1A,, 2A, 3A, 4C and 5D. I’m sure I’m wrong but at least I was speedy!

Thanks Lynn, we did have 3 very enjoyable days. We usually take 1 long vacation per year, so it was nice to have 3 little mini vacations close to home.
Good guessing, but I’m not sure what order to put those guesses in since there were 5 questions and you only gave me 4 answers. I gonna say you got at least 1 right, but I have no idea which one.

Oh yes – my parents knew that we jumped off the roof. My mother always said something momish like, “Don’t come crying to me if you break your dang fool neck,” or “I’m not going to take you to the doctor if you break your legs.”
We used to jump out of tress too. We grew up in the “olden days” when we didn’t have video games, social media, or other such things so we had to make our own fun. Surprisingly neither my brother nor I have ever had a broken bone. (Knocking on wood now.)

Do you use vulpine in your books? I’ve never seen it in print anywhere except the dictionary. It is a nice word.

And the answers are:
#1 – C I have never enjoyed box seats at a sporting event. I’ve sat under the box, over the box and next to the box, but never IN the box.
#2 – B I have never ridden on a zamboni, but wouldn’t that be a hoot?
#3 – A I have not been to Niagra Falls, although I hope to one day see that for myself.
#4 – D I have never eaten snake. Yes, I did eat a grasshopper – on purpose. Let’s just say what happens in Mexico (with tequila) stays in Mexico. And I once ate turtle soup. I will NEVER eat it again. Alligator is actually quite good.
#5 – D I have never tried on a football helmet. While I have not actually worn a bulletproof vest, I did try on a bull rider’s Kevlar vest, which is almost exactly the same thing. And I have worn a hoop skirt and boxing gloves, but not at the same time.
Here’s how you did:
Marlene, Cindy, and Suzanne each got 2 right. The first one to respond wins a prize for getting the most right.
Debra and Colleen each got 1 right. I’m giving Lynn credit for 1 also. She may have gotten more right but she only have 4 answers so I don’t know which questions they were in response to.
