Pop quiz – what are those lyrics from?
I used to think I knew the song. I heard it all the time and always hummed along. But, it wasn’t until about 3 weeks ago, that I actually listened to the words. Really listened. I almost cried when I finally comprehended their meaning. Somehow, all these years, I’ve never really listened to the lyrics enough to fully appreciate the message in the song. It was always just a catchy tune from a great movie.
If you’re still stumped, here’s a bit more:
From the moment we arrive on the planet, and blinking, step into the sun,
There’s more to seen than can ever be seen, more to do than can ever be done.
There’s far too much to take in here, more to find than can ever be found,
But the sun rolling high through the sapphire sky, keeps great and small on the endless round.
Got it yet?
How about now:
It’s the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life
Ah, yes. The Circle of Life. An amazing song by Sir Elton John. I heard that song a lot over the past couple of weeks. As you might have guessed (or already knew), I recently spent about 14 days at Disney World and I’ve got to say, there is more to be done than can ever be done at such a wonderous place. Besides the theme parks, there are two water parks, miniature golf, regular golf, a Nascar driving experience, bowling, movie theaters, dozens of restaurants, water sports, live theater performances and the list just goes on and on.
This trip, my husband and I experienced two new forms of cuisine – Cuban and Norwegian. Both were fantastic! I had my first ever experience with chicken and waffles at the House of Blues Gospel Brunch. Chicken and waffles? OMG. Delicious!

We ate in the new Beast’s castle in the new Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom park and partook of “the grey stuff.” Yes, it really is a menu item and yes, it really is delicious. But, don’t ask the wait staff to reveal the recipe as they are under strict orders not to reveal the secret or risk angering his majesty – The Beast.
Try it. It’s delicious! Don’t believe me? Ask the dishes.
I also enjoyed my first ever water slide. I know, I know. You’re all thinking, “how could crazy Jansen, who’s crashed a snow mobile and eaten alligator, never glided down a water slide?” Well, I’ll tell you. I didn’t learn to swim until I was a teen-ager and after that, I never really became very proficient at it. And, I’m not crazy about having my head under water. It’s kind of one of my phobias. I always avoided water sports and activities. But, not any more. I am the water slide queen!
I even took the plunge down the Humunga Kowabunga, a near vertical 5-story drop in the dark. Now that’s living my friends! Check out this link for all the 4-1-1. And to heighten your reading experience, scroll to the bottom first and click on the audio link. It’ll get you in the mood.

Here’s how it would look if you were take the plunge:
We also experienced an up close and personal pirate adverture, complete with cake and other delicious snacks. Who knew pirates liked cake?
So if’n you’re planning a trip to “The World” and are wondering if you can see it all in a week – the answer is NO! In order to fully enjoy yourself, you must stay at least 10 days. You really need to take the time to enjoy the details of your surroundings and the engineering wonders of the Disney imagineers. Trust me, you won’t regret staying the extra few days.
So, how was the end of your summer? Do anything fun? Try anything new? See anything that you’ve never seen before? I’d love to hear about it.
Word of the Day: Jussive
Fun fact about me: My three biggest toes are all the same length. (That might not be fun. That might be creepy.)

We could have spent a month in any of the cities we visited this summer and not seen everything. You’ll have to go back. It looks like a blast!

Oh, Susie, it was so much fun. I’m sure your trip was a little more exciting than ours though and I’m so glad you got to exerpience another part of our small, small world. (I couldn’t resist the Disney reference.)
Thanks for stopping by. Good to see you up and about.

Disney is fun. We did one of the water parks too, but I can’t remember the name right now. It was the one that had the salt water snorkel pond with tiny baby nurse sharks (so you could say you swam with the sharks). I’m glad you had fun!
By the way I’m kind of in the same toe boat as you–my first 3 toes are almost the same size (although 2nd toe is a tad in the lead).
I’m struggling with your word of the day! As good as I am at issuing commands, jussive is throwing me off. 🙂

It sounds like you were at Typhoon Lagoon. We did not try the snorkeling with the sharks as there was a really long line for that experience.
I think if your second toe is longer than you biggest toe, that means you’re extra smart. I’d go with that, cuz you’re one sharp cookie.
Yeah, jussive would be hard to use in a sentence I think. I chose the word because I’ve never heard of it.
As always, thanks for your support.

Oh, how I love Disney World and all its wonders. It just has a certain ambiance that other theme parks can’t quite capture. Be glad you didn’t choose to slide down the Summit Plummet – it takes some effort to pull your swimsuit out of the ol’ crack afterward. 🙂 My new end-of-summer experience was dropping my baby off at college. Sniff, sniff.

Dropping your baby at college? Sad day indeed. But, now, as an empty-nester, you can go to Disney World more often. No, probably not. You’ll have all of those tuition payments to be making.
I don’t think I’d try the Summit Plummet. My butt hurt for 2 hours after the old Kowabunga drop. I don’t need any further aches and pains.
As always, thanks for your support.

So glad you had a great time. The water ride looks awesome and a bit overwhelming. We didn’t go to a fun park, but we did have fun in Tomahawk, Wisconsin where we had so many experiences. One of my happy things was seeing a bald eagle for the first time. It was so powerful and beautiful to watch flying overhead and then over the water. 🙂

No water rides for Miss Paisley? You don’t know what you’re missing.
Your trip to ‘Sconsin sounds like a blast. I know Mr. Paisley was overjoyed to be “home” again. And it’s always a bit overwhelming to see our nation’s symbol in the wild doing what it does best.
Thanks for stopping by today.

No vacations for me this summer – about the most exciting thing I did was take the daughter to college, which is only about 40 miles away. More than a day at Disney World sounds exhausting! You have way more energy than I do. And while it’s fun, it’s definitely NOT the happiest place on earth – there’s no Mountain Dew there!

Bite your tongue. It is the happiest place on earth.
You’re an addict, huh? Not good, Jennette. Not good at all. I’m not so sure about you any more. Mountain Dew and Duck Dynasty and no Disney World? Hmmm.
Just kidding. You’re still cool and I love you just the way you are. Don’t change a thing.
And now you’re an empty-nester. More time to travel. But not to Disney World.

You went from hating to put your head under water to Humunga Kowabunga? Wow! That’s the power of a good vacation. I’m glad you had a great time and hope you’ll share more about your adventures there. Oh, and thanks for the words to The Circle of Life. What a lovely song.
You do know RWA National will be in Orlando (at a property in Disney World) in the not too, too distant future, right?

Hi Pat. Yes, vacation brings out the crazy in me. I have been known to try some different things for the sake of this motto: “When in _____ do as the ________’s do.” Thus my cricket eating experience in Mexico, but that’s whole nuther story.
My very first RWA nationals was at Orlando, although it was supposed to be in Nashville and that’s the year they had all the flooding. You can bet I’ll be at the Swan and/or Dolphin when it next rolls around again. But first, San Antonio. We’re still on for gin and tonics right?

Look at you girl! Always a good time at the Magic Kingdom! And you looked like you had a great time too Patricia. Nothing better than getting away, eh? It sounds to me like you had a nice summer. I hope it’s cooled down in your neck of the woods. I’m glad I snuck in here to say hi since I’m on a little vaca myself at the moment. Take care Patricia! 🙂

Hey Patricia, I couldn’t resist taking a ride down that water slide! Wow! I’ve got to go back for that. You are so right about taking ten days to truly appreciate Disney! I love “Circle of Life”! Back in the day when The Lion King first came out, I was teaching Grade 3. My class loved the soundtrack and often when we had a “quiet time”, that was the song we played. The lyrics have stayed with me since then and I like to think some of those sweet children were impacted by them too! Thanks for the reminder!
My eye got pulled down to the blog post below this about all your dance lessons. Your “awesomeness” continues to grow, IMHO!

Thanks for visiting and I hope you get back to “The World,” to drop down that slide. It’s a thrill, but you’ll get a lovely wedgie.
