I’ve just learned that 2014 is the year of the horse. Surely that means only positive things for my writing career, as I write contemporary women’s fiction and romance with a western flair, usually included a horse or two in the character line-up. Don’t believe me? Check out my Pinterest story boards http://www.pinterest.com/jansenschmidt/
If you were fortunate enough to have parents who procreated at exactly the right time to ensure your birth in a previous year of the horse, here’s what you might be like:
Strengths : People born in the year of the horse have ingenious communicating techniques and in their community they always want to be in the limelight. They are clever, kind to others, and like to join in a venture career. Although they sometimes talk too much, they are cheerful, perceptive, talented, earthy but stubborn. They like entertainment and large crowds. They are popular among friends, active at work and refuse to be reconciled to failure, although their endeavor cannot last indefinitely.
Weaknesses : They cannot bear too much constraint. However their interest may be only superficial and lacking real substance. They are usually impatient and hot blooded about everything other than their daily work. They are independent and rarely listen to advice. Failure may result in pessimism. They usually have strong endurance but with bad temper. Flamboyant by nature, they are wasteful since they are not good with matters of finance due to a lack of budgetary efficiency. Some of those who are born in the horse like to move in glamorous circles while pursuing high profile careers. They tend to interfere in many things and frequently fail to finish projects of their own.
Oooo – those weaknesses are doozies. I think I know a few asses horses.
And, now that I have been enlightened and know about the year of the horse, I completely understand the Mr. Ed marathon from my last post. It all makes sense now. Still disappointing, but I get it.
Are you a horse? Do you believe the Chinese zodiac characteristics are pretty spot on for your sign? What sign are you? Inquiring minds want to know.
Word of the Day: Usquebaugh
Fun fact about me: I am a dragon.

Thanks Kathy. I love the story boards. They help bring my characters to life in my head and I love having a photo to look at when I’m trying to describe with words what something looks like.
Thanks for stopping by today. Always good to see you.

I ain’t no horse, but a rooster: grounded, practical, not overly focused on material wealth–all true. But stubborn and close-minded? Pah! And apparently I need to be careful not to overindulge in rich foods (okay, nailed that one).

I’m glad you said you’re a rooster and not a cock. (ha ha ha ha ha ha) I crack myself up. Hey, it’s Monday and I’m not in full blown irritated at the world mode yet, so you get the silly me.
Stubborn and close-minded? Hmm. I think that could be said of a lot of people not just roosters.
So glad you stopped by this morning, overindulged or not. Have a great week!

I am a horse, and that zodiac is even more BS than the Western one! I’m not at all into the entertainment scene or the glitz and glamour, I don’t care to be the center of attention, and I absolutely loathe crowds! I do sometimes talk too much though…hmmm. LOL!

Wow – we have a horse in the crowd folks! I’ve never met you, but I can safely say that you do not follow the norm for horses. Maybe you’re more like a mule. I mean that in a good way. Mules are sturdy and sure-footed, rarely and I do mean rarely, do they mis-step.
Thanks for stopping by and proving the ancient Chinese wrong. Or maybe there’s an error on your birth certificate and you’re not really a horse at all. There’s always that possibility.

I’m not a big believer in the zodiac signs or horoscopes but the descriptions of me do have some charactoristics of me. Pisces and Year of the Snake. I am a ham that likes to make people laugh and entertain so I guess that’s true!

So you’re a ham? That must explain the bacon fetish.
I’m on the Pisces / Aries cusp and I have a few traits from both signs, but I don’t really pay that much attention either. I am who I am. Take it or leave it.
So, being a jokester ham in New York who likes to entertain, are you also a thespian of sorts? Sounds like the perfect set-up for your fish/snake (oh – maybe that makes you an eel) personality.
Thanks for stopping by, Phil. Always good to see new faces. I hope you’ll become a regular “Regular Guy.”

I’m a rooster too (like CJ/Coleen above!). I think the rooster quality that rings true for me is loyalty, but the thing about roosters liking to be dressed up all the time is SO not true for me. I basically live in my LL Bean yoga pants. Even if I have to go out and wear something different, I change right back into those yoga pants when I get home (loyalty).
I read dragons are often well-loved and surrounded by admirers. 🙂 I believe it!! I’m raising a glass of usquebaugh to you in admiration.

Ha – dragons are surrounded by admirers? We are fire-breathing, slithering serpents of the devil and people what to slay us. But, seriously, I think I hold a few of those dragon qualities. I’d like to think I am well-loved, but maybe that’s just my fire-breathing arrogance shining through.
I am clinking my glass of usquebagh against yours my friend. Thanks for stopping by. Stay warm in those yoga pants.
