Finally, spring is upon us, bursting with warm breezes and a promise of hotter days to come. Spring break is here, summer vacation is just around the corner. If you’re like me, you’ve been working since January to get your body beach ready. (Hey, I’ve cut back on my potato chip intake substantially, that counts.)
Anyway, you all know what springtime means right? Swimsuit season! That’s right, it’s time to dust off that old swimsuit and try to squeeze your winter body into it hoping to catch a few rays to chase away that winter pale skin. Every year around this time I say I’m going to get myself a new swimsuit; one that fits right and flatters my awkward body shape even if I have to spend a few extra dollars to get it. Every year I shop (usually on line) and every year I come up empty handed.
I’ve started my swimsuit pursuit already this year, but haven’t quite found “the one.” I have, however, ruled out quite a few. Starting with this one:
And, while black is slimming, I couldn’t quite see myself in any of these either:
While shopping, I did reach a conclusion about what kind of swimsuit I should be looking for. You see, I turned 50 last year and I’ve decided that it is finally time to accept the fact that this old girl should probably give up the dream of ever wearing a bikini again – ever. However, if you’re still into the two-piecers, I’ve found some gems you might want to consider. Check these out:
And have no fear if your heart is truly set on black, because these two lovely bikinis only come in black:
So, you can see, there are quite a few choices, some bolder than others. And by “bold” I mean, what the heck on a haystack.
So, after quite a long time scrolling and clicking, I’ve come to the conclusion that, since I do not have the ideal body for virtually any kind of swim wear, I should probably be leaning toward something like this:
How about you dear readers, do you cringe at the idea of getting a new swimsuit? Do you dare to bare, or are you more modest in your swim attire? Would you consider wearing one of the swimsuits I’ve posted herein? Inquiring minds want to know. Don’t be shy. If you’d look hot in that little black bikini, go for it. You’d be the most popular gal (or guy) at the beach.
Word of the Day: Fascine
Fun Fact About Me: I’m not a huge fan of the beach.

I think we need to see pics of you in all those bathing suits so we can judge!

Ha! Nice try, Phil! I might model that last one.
I hope you were not involved in that explosion last week. I was thinking of you. So sad.
Thanks for visiting today. Have a great week!

Giggle-snort…those swimsuits are, er, creative. Pretty sure I’ve never seen anyone wearing anything like those at the lake or beach. I’m with you, Patricia – time to ditch the bikinis and grab the cover-up instead. Sigh…it sucks getting old.

I’m not quite at the cover up stage but close. My legs are still pretty sexy (I’m a dancer after all) and my tummy’s not too disgraceful, but my thighs and hips . . . yeah, those.
I’ll be sporting a cute one-piece one of these days. I just have to find the right one.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a fantastic week. Has spring sprung up there in Oregon yet?

It has! I had some time off over spring break and managed to get some sun, plant my garden, and take out my lower back all in one sweep. Guh.

Oh no! Reading helps cure things. Lots of books. That’s my recommendation. Stay off your feet, have others wait on you, and read.
Let me know if that works.

I have one word for you (well, two words jammed together): Miraclesuit. The line has some nice, not-dowdy suits and claims to take five pounds off the average wearer. I bought one and like it. Do I look forward to swimsuit season? No, but I love the water.
Happy spring, Jansen/Patricia!

Yep, I’m with Pat. Miracle Suit. They really do work. But I’m with you. I still can’t wrap my mind around that swimwear. I’m older than you my dear. So those days have been over for quite a while. And I’m okay with that. 😉

You know Karen – I’m okay with that, too. I’m not a young woman any more and I don’t need to show off that much skin to the world. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone wearing one of those suits and for that I am thankful.
Thanks for stopping by today. Have a lovely week.

I haven’t looked good in a bikini since I was 7, therefore, it’s been one-pieces for me since–and not like any of those pictured! Also not a fan of the beach, shade please so I can maintain my healthy pallor LOL!

Ha – you and my hubby would get along just fine. He is a very fair-skinned, blue-eyed blonde and he hates being in the sun. Beaches, poolside, water parks, he cringes. Healthy palor indeed.
I did get him on the water slides at Typhoon Lagoon at Disney World though and he had fun so that might happen again, but other than a Disney experience, probably not.
I’ll see you under an umbrella in a one-piece for drinks some day soon.
