Time was short this week my friends so I’m posting this quick blog about my new home. This video accurately reflects the feeling of Vicksburg and I’ve been to many of the places shown in this video. I hope you all get a chance to come visit. You won’t regret it.
A couple of quick facts about the Vickbsurg National Military Park; 1) it is the most monumented military park in the nation with over a billion dollars in monuments including stuff from Tiffanys, real gold, bronze, granite and crystal. 2) It is the second largest national cemetary in the nation, second only behind Arlington. 3) Over one million people visit the park every year.
Bonus for me, it’s just over a mile from my house.
Please enjoy this walk through my home town and, as always, thanks for visiting.
What’s cool or unusual about your hometown? Do you enjoy taking a stroll down the street where you live? I’d love to see some fall foliage videos of your home town.
Word of the Day: Impecunious
Fun fact about me: I’ve only lived here 3 months, but it feels like home.

Sounds like a wonderful place. Fall is in full bloom – we had our first freeze warning this past weekend. Leaves are falling and I began raking the yard this weekend – at least five more weekends before it is done. Then it will be time to shovel snow and maybe a visit to Mississippi! Fact: My hometown has more churches per resident than any other town in the US.

Ha! I’m laughing because you can’t swing a cat down here in the south without hitting a church. And Vicksburg has some gorgeous old churches. Some day I’m going to take a stroll and walk through some of them.
Have fun raking leaves. We’ve been doing that a lot lately too.
As always, thanks for visiting.

Cool video – you’re new home town looks lovely. š The town I lived in used to be called “the armpit of Oregon” because of a paper mill off the Interstate that had it’s own unique aroma. That has since shut down, so we’ve lost our notoriety, I guess. Have a great week!

Well there’s something to be proud of – I guess. I’m trying to imagine what a paper mill would smell like, but I’m guessing it’s not that same “new book” smell.
Thanks for visiting. Have a wonderful week.

I am so in love with your hometown, Patricia. Bubba has already told me that he would bring me to visit your Inn when I can get to visit him and his wife. Have no idea when it will be, but I look forward to it. Thanks for sharing. š

I’m really enjoying my new home town, too. I really feel like the town has embraced us and wants us to succeed. I love the charm of this old city.
I hope you can fit in a visit soon. I so miss seeing you.
Take care and have a great week.

So cool that you already feel like Vicksburg is your home after only 3 months! I would love to visit sometime, as I love all of that history, just don’t know when. The leaves are beautiful in SW Ohio right now, and there’s a ton of cool history in Dayton. Fun fact: according to legend, Wright-Patterson AFB, just outside of Dayton, is supposedly where the wreckage (and bodies) from the Roswell incident were taken. Not that I believe that. š
Hope the Baer House is keeping you from being impecunious!

Oooooo – ahhhhhh – oooooo. A conspiracy theory in your home town. I like that. I’d love to visit Dayton sometime. I have an idea in my mind what the fall colors must look like in that part of the country.
I shall await your trip to Vicksburg and as always, thanks for spending a few minutes of your Monday here at the Edge of Eternity.

Beautiful video! Are leaves are almost all off the trees here in Bend, OR. It was 38 degrees last night. You live in a lovely place, and seemed to have settled in. When does the cold weather arrive in Mississippi?
