So the BIG long weekend is nearing completion. Time to go back to work. Well, for most of you. I’ve been working all weekend and it’s been great! Full house for Valentine’s eve with delicious breakfast treats on Valentine’s morning.
The red velvet waffles were a hit even though they were sort of a brown-gray-pink color. I used a lot of food coloring too, but they still weren’t all that red after cooking. The batter was a killer hot pink color though. They looked like they were going to be red. Oh well, I just slathered on a little extra cream cheese icing and it was all good. Add some Baer House eggs (a house speciality) and some bacon and a fruit parfait and you’ve got yourself a sweet feast.
Anyway, we had two couples celebrating their anniversary; one just completed their first year of wedded bliss (aw), the other 13 years. That was fun. Another guest surprised me with a small box of chocolates and chocolate covered strawberries. That was unexpected and very sweet!
And my own sweetie stopped to get be a bouquet of candy hearts on his way home from the store that morning. All in all, a good weekend.
How about you readers? Anything worth sharing? We romance writers like to know these things. Fodder for our books you know.
Have a great week!
Word of the Day: Zymotic
Fun fact about me: I’d rather have flowers than chocolates for Valentine’s Day.

Those red velvet waffles look awesome! The whole meal sounds yummy.
My husband and I aren’t really into Valentine’s Day. We’re more into Sweetest Day, because that was when we went on our first date many years ago.

Sweetest day? Sounds like a good idea. I can’t even remember when my sweetie and I had our first official date. We knew each other and spent time together but an actual date? Hmmmm.
Thanks for stopping by. Maybe someday you’ll pay me a visit and I’ll fix you some red velvet waffles.

The V-day breakfast at Baer house sounds scrumptious! The romantics we are, hubby and I celebrated by going shooting, then watching a horror flick (with Tom Hiddleson…not so horrible) while eating pizza and drinking wine. Dang fine day. I too prefer flowers to chocolate. Can’t go wrong with both, though!

Absolutely cannot go wrong with chocolates AND flowers. Shooting, horror, pizza and beer, now that’s a “killer” combination. Interesting use of time, but if that’s what you’re into, then knock yourselves out. At least you were together right?
Have a great week!

Hmm, zymotic seems like it would be a good word in a zombie apocalypse romance. 😉 And this weekend the hub and i went hiking, and even though it was freezing, it was great to be together! Plus we got some good food, roses and candy too! Hope you have a great week. I’m gonna be thinking about those waffles for a while…yum.

I saw your cute picture on FB. Looked like a great hike. And good food with your man? Awesome.
There will be no zombie apocalypse romance in my future.
The waffles were yummy. I’ll bring them back for 4th of July with whipped cream and blueberries. How patriotic right?
Have a great week!

I have GOT to come stay. I can’t have the waffles because they would lay me out for a week (gluten) but my family sure can. I’d make do with the eggs and fruit, and a really decadent sniff because those look divine. 🙂

I’ll hook you up with a gluten-free version so you could enjoy with your family. So, book your reservations now. Get thee to Vicksburg!
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week.

Yeah, but you’d have o have a gluten-free, or steam cleaned, waffle iron. It’s not worth it enough for me to put people through that kind of bother. But yes, we will be there at some point. It won’t be this year, but it shall happen. 🙂
