I love to laugh. I love it when people make me laugh. I love to make people laugh. I think I have a pretty good sense of humor and I try to employ it in every appropriate situation. (Notice the word “appropriate,” because, as I found out the hard way, there are times when laughter is NOT acceptable.)
I even laugh at myself. Not because I’m necessarily funny, but because I’ve done something stupid and laughing is the best way to acknowledge the faux paus and gracefully move on. It sort of smooths the waters.
Have you ever been in a funky mood, or stressed out, or frustrated? I know, silly question. Have you ever tried not to laugh when you’re feeling that way and someone says something funny to cheer you up? It’s hard. You can’t be in a bad mood when you’re laughing. If you’re crying and someone makes you laugh, you just feel better. Laughter can indeed be the best medicine.
Just about the sweetest sound is a little baby laughing. You can’t help but smile when you hear that. And laughter is contagious. It’s hard to be the only person in a room who’s not laughing. (Although I have done this on occasion when the jokes are in poor taste or at someone else’s expense.) But, if something is truly funny, it’s hard not to laugh. It’s our bodies’ way of reacting. It’s instinctual.
Oh sure, some people don’t appreciate all types of humor (dirty jokes, blonde jokes, etc.) but, general, overall, good clean funny stuff is about as feel-good as it gets.
There are a couple of comedians who I really enjoy watching, because they always make my day better. I believe I’ve shared some comedy videos on my blog in the past, but today, I’m sharing another one. It’s a little on the long side, but it’s really funny, especially if you’re married or in a relationship.
Enjoy!
You you like to laugh? What sorts of things make you smile or laugh? Do you like to hang around funny people?
Until next week – keep laughing my friends!Word of the Day: Jocuse (even this word sounds funny)
Fun fact about me: I thought about being a stand-up comedian at one point in my life.

I love Jeanne Robertson and hadn’t heard that one before. Thanks.
On the subject of the contagion of laughter, one time years ago my business partner and I were in a restaurant in a small town halfway between Dallas and Houston, and we got tickled over something. I don’t remember what it was, but we were both fairly large men and hearty laughers, and we couldn’t stop. Before long, everybody in the restaurant was laughing. Had no idea what was supposed to be funny, but they were laughing because we were. People even came out of the kitchen to see what was going on, and they started laughing, too. I loved it.

What a great story Dave. Sometimes I laugh like that too; don’t know what’s funny, but the people laughing are sure having such a good time you just can’t help but join in.
Keep laughing my friend.

So true, Can’t be sad if you’re laughing. Although I find that I can laugh at the most embarrassing of times. I have worked to curb this, but I used to laugh when someone got hurt. And let me tell you, it was no laughing matter. Yet, I think it was a nervous reaction, although most do not see the humor in it. Yep, embarrassing. So I love to laugh, but only at appropriate moments. As in, comic relief. 🙂

Yes, Karen, appropriate moments. For instance that TV show “America’s Funniest Home Videos” are almost always about somebody getting hurt. I hate that show and I rarely laugh. People getting hurt isn’t funny. I understand it might be a nervous thing, but laughing at someone else’s expense is not cool.
Comic relief? That’s me.
As always, thanks for your support.

Hey, did you hear about the tortoise that was beat up by a bunch of snails? A cop came to take a report from him. “Tell me what happened,” the cop said.
“I can’t remember,” the tortoise said. “It happened so fast.”
