It is with heavy heart that I write this post. Not because of the election results. I’m not overjoyed (I remain hopeful), but neither do I feel the need to slit my wrists. I am saddened because of the ugliness that followed the results. Come on, America – knock it off already.
Being hurtful, destructive, disrespectful and disobedient are not the proper means to vent frustration. I get it, people are afraid of what the future holds. But being a spoiled sport because your candidate lost doesn’t help or solve anything.
Aren’t we all Americans living together in the same great country that affords us so many, many beautiful things? Why must we attack one another?
Anyway, my goal today is to point out some of the beauty that still exists in today’s world. Let’s take a moment to focus on that and be thankful for the things we have right here in this great nation.
I’ll start with some beautiful places. Let’s reflect on the beauty of nature that doesn’t care about anything other than doing the best it can with what it has.

Sedona, Arizona.

Grand Tetons, Wyoming

Crater Lake, Oregon

Alaska wilderness

Hawaiian Islands

Smoky Mountain Parkway

Yosemite Valley, California
And, here are some other beautiful things worth being mindful of:

Innocence

Eternal love

Hope

Caring

Bacon
Yeah, that last one was just for fun, but seriously can’t we all take a minute and be thankful for bacon?
Where do you go to escape the ugliness around you? Do you have a favorite comfort food, movie, restaurant that always lightens your mood? Does the world need more bacon?
Thanks for indulging me today. I hope your future is bright and you remain hopeful that better days are coming. Change is not always a bad thing.
Word of the day: Maunder
Fun fact about me: I love breakfast meats.

Breakfast meats – YEAH! Thanks for the uplifting post, which was so, SO refreshing. I’m really good at just rolling my eyes at people and moving on, so all the junk doesn’t affect me much, but it’s still nice to be reminded of all the beauty in the world.

Thanks Coleen. I struggled with this week’s post. There is so much hatred surrounding us all these days. It’s disturbing really.
So, yes, breakfast meats. Let’s have more of that yumminess.
Have a wonderful, peaceful week.

AMEN to all of this! Especially bacon. And chocolate. What I do to escape the ugliness? Stay off Facebook. Turn off the news. Read a good book instead, or watch HGTV, where the house hunters always get the house they want and there’s no politics. 🙂
I try not to maunder, but my husband can be really good at it LOL.

Thanks Jennette. I am trying to put the ugliness behind me and stay away from the rhetoric all over social media, but some days, it’s really hard. I sort of want to just scream.
Yes, chocolate is a yummy treat worth mentioning. I’m not overly fond of sweets, but I do love a good piece of chocolate now and then. And a good chocolate martini. Delish!
HGTV is as fun as it is informative. That’s a good channel to watch.
As always, enjoy the rest of your week and stay focused on the beauty.

10-4 on the bacon. And I loved your scenes. I’ve been to all of them, and they’re as pretty as the pictures make them to be.
Thanks for this post, Patricia.
