It’s almost January – let the dieting, working out, eating healthier, spending less, drinking less, and other awesome goals begin! Here’s to a good two weeks of purging the old habits and staying focused on those resolutions. Mark my words, by the end of January there will be a noticeable decline in gym attendance and longer lines at the burger joint drive through windows.
Resolutions are wonderful; however, rarely attainable. Most people make the same resolutions every year or set such high estimations of their sticktuitiveness that they are setting themselves up to fail.
I’ve never been a fan of resolutions. I have goals, sure, long term things I’d like to do or accomplish. But I don’t set out to start something new every January simply because it’s a new year. I always make it my resolution to make no resolutions. And guess what? I always reach my goal.
However, this year, I’m changing things up. I’m going to make some resolutions. I’m going to do some wild and crazy things this year. I’m not sure when, or where, or how, but I’ll blog of them when they happen. Stay tuned.
If you’re a resolution maker – kudos to you and good luck. If you need some ideas for some simple, attainable resolutions, may I suggest a new hobby? Check out the video below for an idea that might work for you.
Happy end of December dear blog followers! Here’s hoping 2017 is fabulous. And here’s to making goals you can stick to.
Do you make resolutions? Do you start every new year on a diet, determined to do better than last year? Are you searching for your inner wild child?
Word of the day: Saxicolous
Fun fact about me: I’ve grown fond of pecans since living in Mississippi.

I think the attraction to New Year’s resolutions is the whole fresh-start, clean-slate thing. I get it, however I tend to see each new day that way. Actually, with practice, I’ve become able to mentally reset from minute to minute! Still, I will again make a couple of resolutions. I think I need to ask for help with accountability in keeping this year though. 😉

So good to see you over here at the Edge of Eternity Meshea!
I totally get the fresh-slate idea, but, like you, I tend to think of each new day that way. Every day I resolve to do something (that’s why I create lists), that hopefully is better than what I’ve done the day before.
So, how can I help with your goals? What do you need me to do? I think that’s the problem with most resolutions – people don’t have enough self-discipline. Having an accountability partner at least gives you that weekly dose of guilt if you haven’t performed as expected.
Let me know if a weekly e-mail will at least be a good start. Or perhaps a once-a-month lunch date to keep each other focused and energized? Let’s do this thing.

I haven’t made new year resolutions for years, but for the last three years, I’ve done this Word of the Year thing where I pick a single word to guide me through the year. It helps me keep my focus. Otherwise I’m “shiny thing!”. Happy New Year, Patricia!

I like that Sheila! You must keep that word posted in various places around your home as reminders.
Good luck with your new word for 2017! And, as always, thanks for your support. I love seeing your smiling face over here at my blog.

First of all, you need to know there are few saxicolous plants around here, because our soil is so fertile. See, I did look one up.
So far as resolutions go, the only resolution I ever make is to submit myself more to Jesus. I can’t really change my behavior with any long-term success, but He can make permanent changes in me as long as I’m in submission.
I hope this doesn’t sound like I’m being pompous. I’m not trying to. I just recognize my own limitations and His lack of limitation.

Not pompous at all, Dave. A good goal to have every day actually.
And, I’m smiling right now to know that you took the time to not only visit my blog and leave a comment, but to look up a word!!! See, not so hard right?
As always, thanks for your friendship and support. Have a great new year.

I’m more of the long-term goal person than a New Year’s resolution maker too. But good for you, mixing things up! I hope your 2016 was fabulous, and that 2017 is twice as good!

I like to mix things up once in a while, Keeps me young. At least that’s what I’m telling myself. Who knows, one of these days I might even visit Oregon. Gasp.
2016 wasn’t a stellar year, but neither was it one for the most memorable horrible year of my life. 2017 is bound to be better. There’s always room for improvement.
Thanks for your continued friendship and support this year. I hope we continue our cat/dog love/hate relationship well into 2017. It’s always nice to see your sunny face at my blog.
Happy new year!!
