We all have bad days. It happens. Today is a bad day for me. I knew it was going to be. But, instead of dwelling on it, I’m making an effort to fill my day with as much joy as possible. Dancing brings me joy. Not MY dancing so much, although I do enjoy hoofing it occasionally. But watching really good dancers do their thing. That brings me joy.
I’ve attempted to learn a LOT of different styles of dance over the years, but have never mastered anything well. I’ve had a lot of fun and met some amazing people and honed my skills enough so I can fake it in a lot of instances.
That said, I’m not a huge fan of the free-for-all, let-it-loose type of moving around that most people engage in when they go out “dancing.” Or the kind of crazy who-cares-who’s-watching type of gyrating every drunk wedding guest in history has ever performed.
No, I’m a fan of a more “organized” type of dance. The kind that a choreographer or instructor might teach so dancers can copy and perform on a stage. Think country dancing or line dancing or ballroom dancing. Or, my favorite, tap dancing. That’s the kind of dancing I really enjoy.
Well, let me just show you what I’m talking about. I absolutely LOVE this video. I hope you enjoy as well.
I’d like to thank my buddy Lynn Kelly for introducing me to this awesome video on her blog. For more information about Lynn please visit: www.lynnkelleyauthor.com
So tell me readers, what do you do when you’re having a bad day? Do you enjoy dancing? Come on, cheer me up. Show me what you’ve got. I need ideas for keeping the joy alive all day today.
Word of the day: Lehr
Fun fact about me: I’ve studied at least 10 forms of dance over the past 35 years.

My bad days are few and far between. The last one I recall, I handled by spending about 3 hours in the ER and the rest of the day – and most days since – in my recliner with my left leg elevated. Other than that, my days are almost all good, but maybe that’s just because my middle name is Pollyanna.
BTW, I use lehr for all my glassmaking. lol

I saw the photos Dave. So glad you’re ok. That was scary I’m sure. Not a good day in my world.
Thanks for visiting from your recliner with your sunny Pollyanna disposition. Have a great week.

Sorry you’re having a rough day, my friend! When I have a bad day, I dive into a well-loved book or movie with a glass of wine and just let it all go. And my cats always sense when I need to be cuddled, so they’re usually smothering me with purrs, soft fur, and whiskers in my face. Doesn’t get much better than that…although watching Val Chmerkovskiy dance often makes me forget everything, too! Best wishes that things look up for you fast! ❤

Unfortunately there’s going to be 14 more between now and easter but when it’s all done, it’s gonna be good.
Thanks for cheering me up. I have Val to look forward to tonight don’t I? Probably not wine for awhile but nice hot tea will do the job. Still no cats.

I don’t dance. I can’t dance, or maybe it’s that I am afraid to dance. Regardless, my dancing days are done. I’ll dance at my daughter’s wedding with my daughter and my wife when the day arrives and probably my at my son’s wedding, too. But those events are in the future. As for bad days, I find solace in solitude and music. My latest new tunes are Sam Cooke, I especially love the song, “Mean Old World.” I heard it for the first time watching the second episode of Ken Burn’s Vietnam saga. Despite the title, the melody is soothing and calming. It’s gonna be a great week, busy, but great. Peace.

Oh Clay it’s so sweet that you’re looking forward to dancing at your children’s weddings. You have time to practice a little too. Perhaps take a ballroom class and learn a few steps in a safe environment.
I also enjoy solitude and quiet. And soothing music. I’ll Google your suggestion.
As always, thanks for stopping by.

I’m sorry you’ve been having some bad days, Patricia. I’ve had a few lately, too. Music seems to perk my spirit when I’m down, or I just push through the day, knowing things will get better.
I, too, love to dance, and I wish I’d taken lots of classes like you have. I still want to sign up for tap dancing at the senior center. Might not get to until after the holidays. Good for you taking tap dancing again.
Thanks for sharing the video and giving me a shout out. That’s a video I’ll watch again and again. Jam packed with wonderful dancers. Hope you have a good week!

Thank Lynn. I enjoy stomping my feet if nothing else. I’m really not very graceful. I think you should get yourself down to the senior center and take those tap lessons. You won’t regret it.
Here’s to better days for both of us.
