Today we’re going to play a game. I don’t know about you, but I love to play games. As in actual games with rules and prizes and stuff, not the emotional games game. I don’t play those games. Those are hurtful. But I digress.
We’ve all heard of a bucket list. Some of us probably even have a bucket list. I don’t have an actual list per se, like written down any where, but I do have an imaginary list of things I’d like to do some day. Now, I could just tell you what those things are, but it’s so much more fun to make a game out of it.
So, here’s the dealio – below I’m listing a bunch of things. It’s your job to guess which ones I’d actually like to do some day and which things are just on there for kicks and jollies. List your guesses in the comments below.
Oh – yes – there will be a prize. Whomsoever of you guesses the most things correctly, will be awarded a prize.
Got it? Easy peasy. Here we go:
Sky diving
Backpack across Europe
Visit all 50 states in the United States of America
Bungee jump
Deep sea diving
Buy an old house and restore it
Open my own restaurant
Have one of my books made into a movie
Have dinner with a movie star
Climb Half Dome in Yosemite
Spend a month in Australia
Sleep in a real castle
Buy a $1,000 pair of shoes
Have a famous designer design a dress for me
Go to the Oscars
Go spelunking
Own a Saint Bernard
Get a Botox treatment
Create something, get a patent and make a gobzillion dollars from sales
Meet “The Royals”
Go on an African safari
Become an origami expert
So, there you have it. My list of 20 plus things. Some are really on my list, some are not. Good luck with your guesses.
How about you friends – do you have a bucket list? Do you ever make plans to specifically check some of those things off that list? What’s the craziest thing on your list? Come on – spill it.
Word of the Day: Oroide
Fun fact about me: Whenever I cross something off my bucket list, I add 2 more things to it.

I’m like you with the bucket list – I don’t actually have one, but there are some things I want to do before I kick off. I scratched off the bungee jumping one a couple years ago, and I’m planning an Ireland trip next year, so that’s two down! Spending the night at Neuschwanstein castle is on my list, so I’m guessing it’s on yours too since it’s close to a Disney princess castle, right? And I’m thinking you don’t like heights (maybe…? I could be wrong), so cross off the skydiving, bungee jumping and Yosemite hike. Maybe spelunking and deep sea diving are more to your tastes. Traveling anywhere is a big fat yes. I could totally see you buying an old house and renovating it, and what author doesn’t want to see their book made into a movie? Not to mention write something that makes a gobzillian dollars in sales…I’ll say no to the restaurant because that’s a lot of stinkin’ work, as you already know from serving people at Baer House. I’m also guessing no to all the glamorous items on the list (have dinner with a movie star, buy a $1,000 pair of shoes, have a famous designer design a dress for me, go to the Oscars, Botox, and meeting the royals). You want a St. Bernard someday, don’t you? And who wouldn’t want to be an origami expert. Now you can tell me who badly I did with my half-educated guesses. 🙂 Have a fabulous week!

Seriously – who wouldn’t want to be an origami expert? I mean, really? Name one person.
I like how you provided insights into why you chose the way you did. So you think you know me? Hmmmm.
I’ll post my responses on Friday. Until then . . . keep on guessing. (I know you’re sitting on the edge of your chair biting your nails right now in anticipation.)

Okay, I’ll play! My guess for things you actually want to do is: 50 states, old house, restaurant (aren’t you kind of already doing this?), book made into a movie (duh), dinner w/a movie star, Australia, castle, Oscars, and create something.
I really don’t have a list, but things that have been on it include driving my car down a drag strip, going up in a hot air balloon, and living somewhere besides Ohio. I’ve done the first, and working on the last!
There’s probably a lot of oroide in my house, with its lovely 90’s decor, LOL.

Oh, oh, oh, I should have included the hot air balloon! That’s on my “list” as well. You’ll have to wait til Friday to see how well you guessed.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope some day you’ll get to zip down that drag strip.

I do have a “bucket list,” though I call it my 40 After 40 — because I wrote it at age 40 and it includes 40 things to do between then and when I kick that bucket. One was “write a novel”! But still on my list are things like: ride in a limo, attend U.S. Open Tennis, and sing the national anthem at some event. I like your imaginary list!

You’ve never ridden in a limo? That surprises me. I’m sure you’ll get to take that ride on your way to the US open where they will invite you to sing the National Anthem. (Hey, if you can dream about singing with Gene Kelly, you can dream about this right?)
And that novel writing thing – what’s up with that? You must be insane. (wink)
Thanks for stopping by. I love your 40 after 40 list.

Here are the answers and prize winners!
Sky diving – No way in hell. Coleen and Jennette both got this one right.
Backpack across Europe – No. I’m going to get to Europe some day, but backpacking pretty much anywhere is out of the question. Coleen guessed wrong, Jennette guessed right.
Visit all 50 states in the United States of America – A big fat yes! Coleen and Jennette again both got this one right.
Bungee jump – Nope. CJ and JP both right
Deep sea diving – Nope. CJ wrong (See my previous posts about snorkeling) – JP right
Buy an old house and restore it – This one is officially a no. But, if I had an endless supply of money it would for sure be on there. CJ and JP both guessed incorrectly. Because I’ve sort of done this, I know that I’ll probably never be in a position to ever do it again based on the financial burden.
Open my own restaurant – Probably not. I’ve toyed with the idea, but at this point in my life – not going to do it. – CJ guessed correctly, JP guessed incorrectly.
Have one of my books made into a movie – But of course. What writer wouldn’t want this? Duh. Both writer friends knew this one.
Have dinner with a movie star – Sure. Chris Hemsworth would be my first choice. CJ wrong, JP right.
Climb Half Dome in Yosemite – Uh . . . No. CJ and JP both guessed correctly.
Spend a month in Australia – Absolutely. Again duh, who wouldn’t want to do this. Both CJ and JP right.
Sleep in a real castle – Absolutely. Knowing my affinity for all things Disney, which includes castles, this one wasn’t too hard to guess correctly, which both CJ and JP did.
Buy a $1,000 pair of shoes – The real answer is no, but again if I had that endless supply of money – oh heck yeah, I’d buy me a pair. – CJ and JP both got this one right.
Have a famous designer design a dress for me – Same answer as above. Ditto on the responses.
Go to the Oscars – It’s not really on my list, but if I had the chance I wouldn’t turn it down. This one is an official no because I’m not striving in any way to make this happen. All of the planets would have to align perfectly on a full moon on my birthday before this happened. Again CJ and JP right.
Go spelunking – Sure. CJ right, JP wrong
Own a Saint Bernard – Why not? CJ right, JP wrong
Get a Botox treatment – Really? I’d like to get rid of fat not add it in. So no way Jose. Both JP and JP got this one right as well.
Create something, get a patent and make a gobzillion dollars from sales – Sure. Probably won’t happen, but why not? Again, both CJ and JP correct.
Meet “The Royals” – Same as my answer to the Oscars above. I’m not striving to make it happen but if the opportunity presented itself I’d be all over it. CJ and JP both right
Go on an African safari – This one is a bag fat yes! CJ right, JP wrong.
Become an origami expert – No. Really? This one is just silly. If this is on someone’s actual list, I wish them the best of luck. CJ wrong on this one. JP correct.
So, let’s see, that’s 13 no’s and 9 yes’s.
So – how’d you guys do? I’ll tell you. (Hopefully I got my math right – it’s not really my thing)
Collen got 5 wrong and 17 right
Jennette got 6 wrong and 16 right
So, I’m calling it a tie and awarding you both a prize. Look for a gift to arrive via your e-mail box very soon.
Thanks everyone for visiting and sharing your thoughts. I’ll see you Monday!
