As a writer I spend copious amounts of time researching. Yes that’s right. Even though I write fiction, there are things that still have to be researched because, unless I’m writing about a completely made-up world, people are going to know if I’m not describing a person, place or thing correctly. Ergo – research.
But, as you all know, research can quite often turn into wasted time. There are so many wonderful things available to learn about in the world. So many things I never knew. And – sometimes – things, I wish I hadn’t discovered.
I know you all know what I’m talking about. Those rabbit holes we tumble down because of some obscure pop-up we see while reading about something completely different. Or, crazy headlines that come up when we do a random Google search, that just begged to be clicked on. Or, scrolling through our Facebook feed and finding a yummy looking recipe that we simply must take the time to find out how to make. Clicking on a link from a Twitter post to read an article. You know – important stuff like that that sucks our time away.
Well folks today I’m going to share with you a fabulous find I came across while I was researching something (I can’t even remember what now) on YouTube. This is a song parody that needs no introduction. You’ll all recognize the tune and I’m sure you’ll all laugh at the parody. Enjoy.
What cool or unusual thing have you encountered while doing your “research?” Come on, please share. I’m dying to know what others come across.
Word of the day: Utricle
Fun fact about me: I enjoy doing research. In fact, I’ve actually used REAL books at the public library to do research. I sometimes like going old school.

Personally, I’ve never clicked on any of those other stories. I manage to stay focused all the time. Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this.
Your pal, Al
P.S. Did you know there is a sect in New Guinea that worships the left hind leg of a salamander?

You stay focused all the time? Really? That’s hard to believe but if you say so, I believe you. I’m sure you just automatically know everything there is to know about the New Guinea sect that worships certain salamander parts and for that sir, I salute you.
Have a great week.
