Channel surfing. I know you’ve all done it. Four thousand channels to choose from from sixty different apps but you still can’t find anything to watch on TV. So, you start watching trailers hoping to find a good movie or a new series to watch. Sometimes you spend a good hour just watching trailers trying to find something to watch and by the end of the night you haven’t watched anything.
Lately we’ve been watching either Netflix or Prime because all the series that we watch are coming to an end. We still watch a few primetime television shows and the occasional show on Paramount+ or Disney+ or Peacock but right now we’re in this limbo area waiting for the new seasons to come out or to find the next really good series to watch.
So, we watch a few trailers, which all look really good, choose a show, sit back, relax, and wait for the excitement to hit. We’ve been sadly disappointed. One time we didn’t even get past the first half hour. We also started a new series set in the old west, but only managed the first 3 episodes before throwing in the towel. The last full-length movie we watched had a stupid ending and we were upset that we sat through 90 minutes to get that conclusion. One show we loved the first two seasons, but the third season was such a let-down we didn’t even finish it. One series was enthralling the first season, but totally screwed up and weird the second season. There’s a third season, that we’ve heard is back on track and better again, but we can’t quite bring ourselves to start watching it. It’s still on the maybe list. One would think with so many channel and app options we’d stumble upon something worth watching, especially since they make the trailers so appealing.
We did finally breakdown and buy the BritBox subscription. There’s just something really good about British crime solving shows. Some of them are a bit cumbersome to sit through because the accents are so strong but overall we’re enjoying the BritBox app. The plots usually move a little slower, but the stories are engrossing nonetheless. I’m still wondering what’s up with the Brits and infidelity as it seems like being unfaithful to one’s spouse shows up in literally every single show we’ve watched so far on BritBox, but whatever.
How about you guys – have you ever started watching a show or series only to be hugely let down? What are some really good shows you think we should check into? We like the crime solving shows, mysteries, the occasional romcom. We enjoy Virgin River, Bosch, Yellowstone, Joe Pickett, and Seal Team, but we’re anxiously awaiting new episodes. I know Bosch is over but is it making a comeback? Come on, share with me your undiscovered gems.

Word of the Day: Reniform
Fun fact about me: I really don’t mind the heat, which is a good thing since it’s been almost a hundred degrees every day here for a few days now.

Same! Finding a good show to watch is tough these days. I don’t even have any recommendations, sad to say, besides Stranger Things. But I have a feeling you’re not into the supernatural shows. 🙂

I think my husband would love Stranger Things. He’s more into that than me, which is surprising. We’ve even watched so many Hallmark movies now that they hold no appeal any more. We’re looking for that next great thing – like Justified or Bosch. We loved those shows. We did start watching that new show Dark Wind based on the Tony Hillerman novels. So far it’s intriguing. Not quite ready to call it good, but intriguing.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope the rest of your week is amazing.

Just sayin’, you pegged our TV watching habits so close you must have been a fly on the wall watching us. Sometimes my weird humor misses the mark. Have a great week yourself.

That’s what I thought you were saying. I’m still pleading the Fifth. Hmmmm. Be very suspicious of flies from now on.

Yes, absolutely. Like you the British accent is hard to decipher and I need it a little louder and sometimes I have started in and lost interest, but it happens with books, too. But my mom always reminded me that you should always finish a book, that doesn’t necessarily translate to a tv show. Stay well. Peace

I like your mom! Always finish the book. That said – I have on occasion stopped reading a book. It was just THAT bad.
I usually give TV shows as much time as possible to peak my interest. But sometimes you just have to throw in the towel. Life is too short to waste on bad TV.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’re having a blast on your baseball adventure!!
