Because it was so much fun the first time, I decided to do it again. This is only the second time for me so I still feel a bit uncomfortable but it’s getting easier. And I had help in the form of a lovely lady named Linda Thompson. She helped me relax and just focus on the task at hand. What is this thing you’ve done you wonder? I’m glad you asked.
I submitted a request with The Author’s Show to be interviewed for a podcast about my book. A year or so ago I submitted my book On Solid Ground. I was skeptical because it’s a free service and free book advertising. Sometimes things really are as good as they seem. Linda Thompson was my interviewer then and she requested to interview me again with my latest book, The Ties That Bind.
She went so far as to purchase my book ahead of time, read it, and write a lovely 5-star review for me all BEFORE the interview was even conducted. When I saw the review come in, I knew the interview was going to be good.
So, without further ado, if you haven’t already listened to the podcast when it aired for the first time last week, here’s the link so you can listen now. Enjoy!
Here’s Linda’s review:
Authors Show Linda
A very special story
“The Ties That Bind is a heartfelt story that addresses a lot of social injustices without appearing preachy. Shiloh had a really traumatic childhood, losing both her mother and her twin brother in a car accident. Luke is raising a special needs daughter on his own and has been looking for just the “right” woman. He finds her in Shiloh, but it will take some convincing to convince to stay in her home town. This is not your run of the mill romance, rather a novel that explores the human condition – not all of it good. I loved book one of the new Family Ties series and am looking forward to reading more by this author.”
Have you ever been interviewed for a radio speaking engagement? Have you ever heard yourself on a recording? What did you think of my interview? Be honest. Go ahead. I can take it.
Remember, there will only be 2 more blog posts from me before I switch over my format to a monthly newsletter. I hope you’ll make the switch with me. I’ve got exciting things planned for next year that only my newsletter followers will know about. Here’s the link to sign up: http://bit.ly/JansenSchmidtNewsletter
Word of the Day: Quebracho
Fun fact about me: I don’t like my recorded voice but it is what it is.

I was on TV a couple times, when our neighborhood was fighting a proposed business and zoning changes -ugh!
Congrats on the interview and review! Well deserved!

Well, good for you. TV is a completely different animal. Visual vs. audio. No comparison. Did you speak or were you just a person in the background? Speaking can be tricky, especially if you don’t know what the interviewer is going to ask you.
I was on TV once – on a local morning talk/news show. I sang a song from the theater production we were about to open. My husband and I owned a small theater company in our town and somehow we got hooked up with this morning show out of Sacramento who wanted to do an interview. Because I was the “star,” the rest of the cast said I should be the one to do it. It was fun and certainly nerve-wracking. The worst part was getting up at 3 AM to be to the studio by 5. That part wasn’t fun. I had to be in full make-up and costume so that took some time and we lived an hour away. Anyway, I’m not eager to jump back into that any time soon. I’ll stick with the radio.
Thanks for stopping by. It’s always nice to see you.

Good job on the interview and congrats on the review! I’m such an introvert, I bet I’d get all tongue-tangled and even more awkward than normal in a live interview, so I’ve been lucky enough to avoid those so far. 🙂

Thanks Colleen. I’m not an introvert – except in certain situations. I don’t like debating or “arguing.” I’ll get up on stage and sing and dance but don’t ask me controversial questions. In fact, don’t ask me any questions at all, just let me drive the conversation. (Ha)
Anyway, I bet you’d do fine in a podcast interview. Nobody can see you. You sit at home by yourself. And if you don’t like something they can just edit it. In fact, Linda cut me off a couple of times mid sentence but you’d never know that by listening to this podcast. You should try it sometime. It’s free advertising if nothing else.
Have a lovely rest of the week. I can’t want to read your new book!
