Last week I told you of my interest in exploring ghost towns and abandoned places. I relayed the story of the town of Rodney, the capital that almost was. This week, I continue my exploration adventures with you to another spot not too far from my home in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Let’s wander over to Windsor Ruins, what’s left of Mississippi’s greatest plantation home ever.

On occasion in the past I have asked you guys for suggestions about what to blog about. Sometimes my creative well runs a little low and I find myself in need of some fresh ideas. A couple of times you nice folks have requested more information about the historic house I live in. (more…)

As a writer I spend copious amounts of time researching. Yes that’s right. shaking handsOne of the things I really like about innkeeping is meeting folks from all over the world. Hardly any blondes. (more…)

It was an interesting day and fun to watch the behind the scenes stuff. The crew wasn’t here very long and really didn’t have that much equipment. However, the final product turned out pretty dang good, in my opinion. (more…)

January is what the folks of Vicksburg call, “the slow season.” I guess it’s probably pretty slow everywhere what with the holiday craziness settling down, kids back in school, lousy weather for traveling, tax preparation looming, and getting started on all of those awesome new year’s resolutions and all.
