There are so many dishonest people in the world today. So many people with harmful agendas. So many people out to make a buck. I think you’d be somewhat foolish if you weren’t always a little leery of people selling stuff. There are thieves who will take your money and disappear. But I also choose to believe that there are still good people out there too. People who are just trying to make a living. People who come by their money honestly. People who aren’t trying to trick you into buying something they have no intention of delivering.

I’m a Disney fan. Have been since my first trip to Disneyland in early 1970. As a kid, my brother and I would always choose Disneyland as our destination of choice when asked where we wanted to travel during the summer break from school. Sadly, we seldom went. As an adult, I can go, pretty much, whenever I want to. That’s the beauty of being an adult.

I don’t know about you, but I’m so sick of seeing news headlines about professional sports players involved in accidents and being arrested but expecting to get a free pass because of who they are. Nobody is entitled to a get out of jail free card, especially if you’ve actually done something grossly negligent or illegal.

The other day I had a guest experience that I wish I would have handled differently. Hey, sometimes it happens. But you never know UNTIL it happens. And we all know that sometimes all it takes is one person to screw things up for everyone else. Here’s what happened?

I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I’m saying it now anyway – I love champagne. It’s one of my favorite beverages. I can drink champagne any time of the day, any day of the week, for any special or non-special occasion. It’s a very versatile beverage. You can drink it straight, mixed with juice, in cocktails or even frozen in a slushie. What’s not to love?

The best advice, when life hands you lemons, is to make lemonade. Not always an easy thing to do. Well, I’ve been handed some lemons. Lots of lemons. Cancellations have been flooding in – AGAIN. Between school starting, this new covid variant, and threats of violent weather, people were opting not to travel to Vicksburg. August is usually our month of European travelers. But, we all know they are still forbidden to travel to the US. So . . . . here we sit. Again. With a houseful of empty rooms and a lap full of lemons.

Do you ever see something and wonder, “who thinks up this stuff?” I know I do. I’m a fairly creative person when it comes to certain things. But other times, I’m just clueless about how to make something happen. I think that’s why I love Disney so much. Everything Disney does just amazes me with the creativity and the engineering and the use of colors and music. But sometimes I see something and think, “why?”

I used to love getting dressed up for special occasions. Heck I used to enjoy getting dressed up just to go to work. When I worked in a professional office I wore dresses, two-piece business suits, heels, pantyhose, make-up, jewelry, even glitzy hair clips every single day. In the summer I wore more sundresses and sandals, but I always overdressed by today’s standards. I was often the best dressed employee in the office, but I felt like I had to “look the part,” and dressing up added a feeling of me being extra valuable in the workplace because of it. It was a self-esteem issue for me.

The world as we all knew it has changed. It always does. The world is constantly changing. Not always for good, but always changing, nevertheless. Ask your grandparents or your parents about what life was like when they were kids. Think back to when you were a kid. How much has changed in just a few short years?
