It’s been almost 4 years since I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s certainly one of those days that I’ll probably remember for the rest of my life. It’s the day your life changes and the day your routine is interrupted, and your life gets arranged for you by everyone except you.

I often hear, “You’re going to Disney World again? Didn’t you just go last year (or in June, or January, etc.)?” My response is always the same, “Yes, we did and yes we’re going again.” You want to know why? I’ll tell you. It’s fun!! I love Disney World. We always know we’re going to have an excellent experience, good food, clean rooms, quiet pools (we know the ones to visit), free transportation and much more. woman on gurneyToday I return to the hospital for my final outpatient surgery. What? Another surgery? Relax. Breathe. Everything’s fine. This one’s a good one. This is the one I was hoping for, the one that might not have happened for a year or more. This is the one I’ve been hoping for since last October. This one symbolizes the end of my battle with cancer. (more…)

Chitty Chitty Bang BangThere’s a line from a song from the movie Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang, that I love: “Up from the ashes, grow the roses of success.” That line can be applied to a lot of things. For me, right now, it applies to my rise from “sickness” to improved health. Not that I was unhealthy before, because I really wasn’t, I was just infected with a nastiness known as cancer. (more…)
