It’s been almost 4 years since I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s certainly one of those days that I’ll probably remember for the rest of my life. It’s the day your life changes and the day your routine is interrupted, and your life gets arranged for you by everyone except you.

long roadIt’s been about 8 months now since my last chemo treatment. I’ve had several follow-up medical appointments, including a mammogram, all of which went well. woman on gurneyToday I return to the hospital for my final outpatient surgery. What? Another surgery? Relax. Breathe. Everything’s fine. This one’s a good one. This is the one I was hoping for, the one that might not have happened for a year or more. This is the one I’ve been hoping for since last October. This one symbolizes the end of my battle with cancer. (more…)

Health issues can be exhausting, especially ones requiring regular and ongoing treatment. I find myself in this position for at least ten more weeks. Daily radiation combined with weekly chemo. Each treatment has multiple and varied side effects. (more…)
