I recently returned home from a vacation where I traveled by airplane. Airplane travel is always an interesting proposition for lots of reasons. The biggest drawback to air travel is people because, well, people tend to be people and we all know how people can be. (more…)

So the holiday madness is behind us and all that’s left is the clean up. Yeah, that’s the part nobody really likes. I’m the person who likes to have everything cleaned up and put away by the end of the day on January 1. It doesn’t always work out that way, but it’s my goal. Not that I’m ready for the pretty sparkling lights to go away – because I’m not – but because I usually have an entire day on January 1st with nothing pressing to do, so I undecorate before the madness of “real” life settles back in. So yesterday was a day to celebrate our mothers. We all have, or had, a mother who in so many ways changed and shaped our lives for better or worse, hopefully better. I lost my mother to cancer in 2008 and I miss her darn near every single day. My husband lost his mother in . . . em . . . 2002 I believe. So, we’re both motherless and therefore don’t “celebrate” our mothers on Mother’s Day except via clinking of glasses when we go out to eat in their honor. (more…)
