alarm clockI’m all messed up. Daylight Savings always affects me, no matter if we’re springing forward or bouncing back. Losing sleep, gaining sleep, whatever, my body always feels like I’ve traveled across several time zones, slept 3 hours in each before moving on, sometimes forward, sometimes back. And it doesn’t help that I just returned home 3 days ago from a different time zone. I spent almost 2 weeks one-hour ahead of my normal zone, returned to my regular zone, then sprang ahead for Daylight Savings. I’m all mixed up. I feel like I need sleep all the time. (more…)

self improvement quoteIn my continuing pursuit of individual improvement this year, I’ve been going through shelves, drawers, closets, boxes, etc. and trying to determine what is essential in my life and what can be repurposed, regifted, or plain ole thrown away. I recently blogged about decluttering and I said that I had been unsuccessful in that endeavor. However, I actually have made some progress. (more…)

As most of you know, I live in an old house. Almost 150 years old to be exact. I live in the historic “downtown” area of Vicksburg, most famous for the 47-day siege of 1863. If you’re not familiar with this epic historical event, shame on you, but here’s what you need to know: Ulysses S. Grant and his northern armies converged on Vicksburg, entrapping a Confederate army, lead by Lt. General John Pemberton, and hundreds of citizens for 47 days. (more…)
