The other day I had a guest experience that I wish I would have handled differently. Hey, sometimes it happens. But you never know UNTIL it happens. And we all know that sometimes all it takes is one person to screw things up for everyone else. Here’s what happened?

Memorial Day means different things to different people. Lots of people attribute this long weekend with the beginning of summer. For some it’s a day off work, a day to sleep in, a day to cook outside. It’s a time for camping, boating, backpacking, backyard BBQ’s and more. Some people think of it as the last days of the school year. Some people look forward to super savings with Memorial Day sales at department stores. And that’s all good. But let us NEVER forget the true importance of this holiday – that we honor the men and women of our armed forces whose sacrifices allow us to live in a (still) free country.

I have the utmost respect for our country, our flag, and the incredible people willing to sacrifice their lives to protect the freedoms of everyone living in this country. And I don’t mean just the Americans either. I mean EVERYONE living in his country.

This week, I’m taking a quick break from blogging. I hope you all have a delightful Independence Day and a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has or still serves in our armed forces.

I’ll be back next Monday with my usual wit or whine session. Until then:

Shortly thereafter, they produced a YouTube video called “Hometown Hero,” most of which was filmed on location in Afghanistan.

Happy Memorial Day to my friends and a great big thank you to all the vets and enlisted military men and women everywhere. Your service and sacrifice are foremost in my mind and you are always in my prayers. Come home soon and stay safe.

How about you friends – know any vets? How do you honor the fallen or say thank you for their service? Do you do anything special on this very special day beside BBQ in the back yard?
