New year – new game. Last year you enjoyed learning a little more about me through a game called What Haven’t I. This year I’m going to ask you to determine whether or not I would accept or decline the totally random selection of things I list in a game I’m calling Take It or Leave It. That’s right, all you have to do is guess whether I would, well, take it, or leave it.
My amazing powers of deductive reasoning led me to that awesome title and description.
The rules are simple, just post your guesses in the comments section below. I will post the choices on Monday and my responses on Thursday. The person with the most guesses is my winner, but you must re-post in the comments section in order to claim your prize. Unclaimed prizes will be forfeited after one week from posting the answers.
Good luck and have fun.
Here we go with the very first installment of Take It or Leave It.
1 – Sing karaoke at a biker bar
2 – Skydiving
3 – Deep sea diving
4 – Bungee jumping
5 – Spelunking
6 – Parasailing
7 – Ride a bucking bull (a live one, not a mechanical one)
8 – Surfing
9 – Ride the Tower of Terror at Disneyland
10 – Eat a bug
Word of the day: Wittol
Fun fact about me: I used to change my own oil in my car.

2, 4, 7, 9 would be “leave it.” Bugs aren’t that bad!!!!

Bugs aren’t that bad? You know this because . . . ?
We’ll see you back here on Thursday to see how you did.
Hope all is well in your world.

Hi Lynn. Good to see you.
Your guesses are interesting. You didn’t do too bad either. We’ll see you back here on Thursday for the answers.
Take care. Hope you’re doing well.

A lot of these are “it depends!” For #1: depends on how much you have to drink! Actually, that goes for #10, too. Along with, do you get to wash the bug down, and what kind/how big is it. Bungee jumping could depend on from how high, and whether or not you must be upside down (for me, that’s what makes it a no-way!). But in the absence of any other info, I’m going to guess your “Leave it” would be #3,4,7 & 8.

Oh leave it to my friend Jennette to make it complicated. Let’s assume there’s a small amount of alcohol involved, since that’s basically my life. Everything in moderation.
Good to see you. We’ll see you back here in 2 days to see how well you analyzed the situation.

Your totally random guessing is pretty dang good, Clay. We’ll see you back here on Thursday for the big reveal.
Thanks for playing.

Okay – it’s Thursday – the big reveal! I know you’ve all been on the edges of your seats in anticipation. So wait no longer.
#1 – Take it – I’d sing anywhere
#2 – Leave it – Absolutely no desire to plunge toward the earth at breakneck speed only to be pulled sharply back up by giant strings.
#3 – Leave it – I do not like having my head under water
#4 – Leave it – same reason as number 2
#5 – Take it – I love everything about caves, even the bats, and small spaces or the dark don’t freak me out a bit.
#6 – Take it – I think sailing over the deep blue sea would be a hoot and some day I’m gonna do it.
#7 – Take it – I’ve tried the mechanical one, but I’m pretty sure I’d do better on a live animal. Oh sure, I’ll probably die on the landing when the great snorting beast tramples me, but hey, I’d give it a go.
#8 – Take it – I have pretty good balance so I think I’d be good at it.
#9 – Take it – Any time, multiple times. That ride is freaky weird.
#10 – Take it – Like Susie said, it’s not like I haven’t done it before. Hey, what happens in Mexico, stays in Mexico. Let’s just say, crickets are not bad at all with Tequila.
So there you have it. Now you know what events you can invite me to and which ones it avoid.
Here’s how you did:
Lynn got 6 right.
Jenette and Susie each got 7 right, but not the same 7.
Clay – for a newbie over here at The Edge of Eternity, you got 8 right and are my lucky winner! You have until next Thursday, February 6th to claim your prize. Shoot me an e-mail (jansen (dot) schmidt at Yahoo) and let me know if you want the Amazon or i-tunes gift card.
Thanks for playing everyone! I look forward to seeing you all again in the very near future.

Maybe not so much courageous as stupid, but hey, you only live once.

You’re slipping Coleen. I wondered at your lack of appearance, but just assumed you were busy with a new book being out of something.
I’m going to try to have the Take It or Leave It challenge once a month, so keep coming by. February is your month my friend.

Hi Patricia! If we ever get to meet, we should go do karaoke. That would be fun. I have to admit I’d leave pretty much everything else–except if the bull could be a mechanical, then I’d take. 🙂
I looked up wittol. Surprising definition. But all wittol makes me think of is someone saying little in baby talk!

Hi Coleen – we should definitely go do some singing. Maybe we could find a cowboy bar with karaoke and a mechanical bull. That would be a hoot.
And I was surprised that wittol is a word as well. I’ll have to be careful in my books not to spell it that way if I really mean the baby talk.
Thanks for stopping by.

You did, but you’re too late to claim your prize. You had a week from January 30th (when I posted the answers).
But keep trying. You’re obviously a good guesser.

Accidental bug eating seems to be something a lot of folks have experienced. I ate my bug on purpose, but, like I said, I also had a tequila chaser so that was inspiration enough. And yes, I’d do it again.
Thanks for visiting. I hope you’ll play along with my next installment (next Monday I believe).
