Let’s face it, when it comes to country music, women are still expected to fit a certain image. Basically, we are exploited. Well not me exactly because I don’t look like the girls in those videos, but you know what I mean. Country music tells a story and it’s often one of redneck adventures by not so charming cavemen. Songs like, I’m Gonna Miss Her, by Brad Paisley about a guy who chooses fishing all day over losing his wife; What Was I Thinking by Dierks Bentley, about a guy whose sole motivation for doing stupid stuff is a well-endowed woman wearing a skimpy tank top. I’m not proud of it, but the songs and the videos speak for themselves. Don’t believe me? Look it up. Watch the videos.
Well, the time has come to switch things up a little bit. Here’s a look at how two gorgeous young gals turned the tables on the country bumpkins who disrespect beautiful country women. Check it out. (Warning: You won’t be able to unsee this.)
So what do you think dear readers? Did you like the video? Do you like country music? Should we have more Maddie & Tae’s in this world? Inquiring minds want to know.
Word of the Day: Blitzkrieg
Fun Face About Me: I love me some country music (despite the backward redneck nature of the beast).

Good video, good song, you’re correct seeing those men dressed that way is hard to unsee. It’s disappointing how the entertainment industry and not just country music depict women – though they are serious offenders. My least favorite commercial these days is the Hardee’s Texas burger commercial. It’s offensive and degrading to women. Here’s just no other way to put it. Nice post. Like your word, good choice.

Hi Clay. We don’t have Hardee’s here but we have Carl’s Jr., which I think is the west coast equivalent and yes, it is degrading. It’s sad but true, sex sells.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I thought it was kind of cute even though I do not need to see more of those kinds of videos.
Happy Labor Day!

Oh CJ, you have to keep an open mind. I like country music, but I like other types of music as well. And a lot of modern country is getting into that rap mode, which I detest.
And I am not a fan of music videos. I just thought this one was funny.
Thanks post leaving a comment. Have a great weekend!

Country is not my thing, though I never really thought about the depiction of women therein. Rock music isn’t too great either when it comes to sexism, though it’s not as bad as some of the gangsta rap stuff. Hmm, I think I’ll go listen to some European electronic headbanger music that mostly leaves that stuff out LOL…

Oh Jennette, I’m sorry you had to see this. I think it is so interesting at how “far” we have come in this battle to be equal, yet women are still shamelessly degraded. And what’s even more interesting is that women pose for these pictures and want to make these videos. A lot of women are not doing their part to put a stop to his nonsense.
Anyway, I though the song and the video were fun. I’m glad you took the time to stop by today and leave a comment.
Have a great Labor Day!

I’ve actually used blitzkrieg in a manuscript! It’s a great word. Using sex to sell is nothing new, and women enjoy the exploitation of men (ie the photo above–which I personally love!) as much as men do women. But degradation is another issue. I love that these gorgeous girls wrote a song (albeit a spoof) calling out the redneck cowboys who write such songs!

Hi Suzanne and thanks for actually using one of my words in a practical way. Usually I just find some random silly word that no one’s every heard of much less used. Kudos to you!
I thought the video was rather clever but I don’t need to watch it more than once. Those cut off shorts are hot on the chicks, not so much on the guys.
Thanks for visiting today.

Love this video! I laughed through the whole of it! I grew up with three guys…dad, two bros, but they never let me be treated like a girl in a country song. Country isn’t my first choice in music (even though I lived in MT for 17 yrs), but there are some songs worth playing again. I’m going to listen to this once more.

Great video! You sure come up with some great ones! I got a big kick out of watching the tables turned on the men. I like some country music, more country rock than just regular country. I like the song in the video. Two thumbs up!

Thanks Lynn, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I thought the girls were cute but the guys as sex symbols – not so much. Funny how it only works one way.
Thanks for stopping by.

I thought this video was funny. I saw the singers in an interview and loved their humor and attitude!
Blitzkrieg is a word I actually know, but my mind keeps wandering off to the idea of a donut bombardment. 🙂
I guess it’s a Friday thing.
Happy weekend, Patricia!

Doughnut bombardment is a very pleasant thought on a Friday afternoon. You’re not my first follower to tell me she’s heard of, and even used, this word before. I thought I was being tricky. I’ll have to try harder.
Thanks for stopping by. See you next week.
