Another Thanksgiving has come and gone. Another end of the harvest season. Another end to everything orange and pumpkin and in with everything green and peppermint. That’s right, we’ve officially entered the fifth season – the holiday season.
But, what to do with all those pretty pumpkins bedecking our porches and accessorizing our walkways? We can’t eat them, I mean, what would the neighbors say? After all, pumpkin season is over. We must rid our yards of their presence in order to make way for our blow-up Santas, towering snowmen, prancing reindeer and other light up decorations.
Relax. I’ve got ya covered. Here’s what you do with those unwanted pumpkins.
So, there you have it. Take your pumpkins to the zoo. Or smash ’em up and put them out for the bats, birds, raccoons, whatever critters you have in your neck of the woods. It’s a nutritional treat they’ll thank you for.
Have you ever fed pumpkin to your animals? Left it out for wildlife? Seen the zoo animals nosh on its fleshy goodness? If you ever get a chance to see wild animals eating pumpkin – do it. I’ve seen the feedings at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and it’s a hoot to watch.
Word of the Day: Nostrum
Fun fact about me: I’m not a lover of the pumpkin.

Thanks for the joy of seeing animals play to start my Monday morning. My daughter returned last night from four days at Disney with her marching band. She had a great time and returned with a couple of Animal Kingdom Starbuck’s mugs for me. As for pumpkins, ours have been gone for a several weeks – we composted them.. but in the past it has gotten cold and frozen them and the squirrels and chipmunks get into them and make a mess of seeds and innards on the porch. This year, the pumpkins were gone before they got into them. Now, it’s lights and greens to make the house festive. What does the Baer House look like for the Holidays? Please share! Have a wonderful week.

Right now the Baer House is unadorned but we are working on that. I’ll post some photos when I can convince my hubby to get out there and put up the decorations.
Glad your kiddo got to visit The World. It’s one of my favorite places.
Have a great week.

In light of Clay Watkins’s experience, your nostrum may not be the best prescription for dealing with leftover pumpkins. lol

Every party has a pooper. Animals love pumpkins so I saw, let them eat squash.
Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great day.

I love pumpkin, but not lattes. The squirrels mucked up our pumpkins before we composted them in the trash. Before that, two were stolen by human vermin!!!

What? Someone stole your pumpkins? That sucks. I don’t mind if the animals feast, but human vermin disgust me.
Here’s to a thief free holiday decorating season.
Have a great day.

I agree! I hate the pumpkin spice mania that starts in August. I’m much more of a turnip person.

Turnips? That’s interesting. I’m not a fan of turnips either but I will eat them. Wouldn’t want to see a turnip latte though. Although I really don’t want to see pumpkin ones either. No accounting for some people’s tastes.
Here’s to the Christmas flavors, peppermint excluded. Give me anything cinnamon, gingerbread, cranberry and I’m a happy girl.
Thanks for visiting tiday. Have a great rest of the week.

My thoughts exactly! Turnip lattes make as much sense as pumpkin ones. LOL. I am all about the Christmas flavors, too.

I’m not a pumpkin lover, either. All those freakish people who chant about everything pumpkin flavored…I can’t even…bleck. Not even whipped cream can save pumpkin pie.

Never figured out the trend for all things pumpkin, but whatever. I concur, there is not enough whipped cream in the world to justify eating pumpkin pie. I don’t like pecan pie either. Two of my husband’s favs.
Here’s to the Christmas flavors. Long may they live.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week.

What a fun video! The bats are creepy, though. The tiger looks like he’s in someone’s backyard! I can go for pumpkin pie during the holidays, and organic pumpkin seeds are one of my favorite snacks. No salt, no roasting. Just plain yummy goodness!

Pumpkin seeds are the only part of the pumpkin I like. That said, I do have a killer recipe for turkey pumpkin chili that is delicious. However, you don’t taste pumpkin so it’s doable for me.
I kind of thought the bats were cute, but, to each his own. I enjoy watching the animals examine and play with their pumpkins before eating them. Kind of fun. Curious creatures.
Thanks for visiting, Lynn. Always good to see your smiling face. Have a great week.
