Have you ever wanted to be a race car driver? Come on, show of hands, who’s wanted to be a race car driver? I think I’m a race car driver every day. Even in my little cross-over Nissan Rogue, I’m secretly a race car driver. Maybe it’s because I’m a little speed demon, or maybe I like how a powerful car engine feels and sounds when you rev it up. In any event, I think you should all know that I have this compelling urge to drive a race car. It’s on my bucket list.
I’ve included a video at the end of this link that I shot while “racing” on the Radiator Springs Racers at Disney’s California Adventure Park a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I was assigned the back seat, so I didn’t have best filming advantage, but I think it turned out pretty good. You can enjoy that after this month’s edition of Take It Or Leave It – Race Car Style.
Here’s a reminder of the rules: Post your guesses (would I take it, or leave it) in the comments section below. I will post my responses Thursday. The person with the most correct guesses is my winner, but you must re-post in the comments section in order to claim your prize. It’s that simple. Unclaimed prizes will be forfeited after one week from posting the answers.
Would I, or wouldn’t I:
1) Park in a handicapped spot;
2) Run a stop sign;
3) Tailgate (like a good race car driver would);
4) Text while driving;
5) Talk on the phone while driving (w/o blue tooth);
6) Deliberately drive slow in the fast lane to slow traffic for a known speed trap area;
7) Tap my brakes for a tailgater;
8) Drive without my seatbelt fastened;
9) Double park;
10) Use the carpool lane to pass a slower driver.
Good luck. Now here’s the video I told you about:
Word of the Day: Intumesce
Fun fact about me: I have a clean driving record (knocks on wood)

Looks like fun! Let’s see, my guesses would be: No, Yes, No, No, Yes, Yes, Yes, No, Yes, Yes.
BTW, what does “repost in the comments section” mean? Not that I got many of these right…

Good morning Kathy. Our Disneyland trip was a blast. We were able to ride the racers twice, but had to wait almost an hour the second time.
“Repost in the comments section,” simply means that if you’re a winner, you need to post another comment acknowledging that you know you won. Perhaps there’s a better way to say that, but what I’m wanting is a second comment.
Interesting guesses. Check back on Thursday to see if you won. And if you did, don’t forget to leave another comment so I know you know you won. (That’s a terribly confusing sentence to write.)

You would leave 1 &4. The rest… probably fair game. I’ve done Richard Petty Driving Experience twice and it’s awesome! You so should do it, and be sure toinclude the ride-with, because they go faster!

Hi Jennette – I’ve been wanting to try that Richard Petty thing. It’s kind of expensive, but one of these days I’m going to do it. I’ll do the ride along because I want to go faster.
Interesting guesses, too. We’ll see you Thursday to see how you did.

My hub would love to race cars! I like to drive, but five miles over the speed limit is good enough for me!
Marshmallows Intumesce over the fire. (I’m hungry for dessert.)
Hope you have a great week!

No race car driver in you, huh, Coleen? Well, I guess one in the family is enough. And now that you mention marshmallows, I’m wanting dessert, too.
Check back Thursday to see how well you guessed.

I wanna go on that ride! So cool that you filmed it! I love Disney.

Hi Phil! It was a pretty cool ride that’s for sure. We were able to ride it twice, both times using the single rider line, which is why I was riding with a bunch Asian people. My husband was in the car next to us that we “raced” at the end. He claims they won, but I’m pretty sure we did. The second time we had to wait almost an hour and right after we got off they shut it down for some maintenance or something. We were lucky!
Thanks for stopping by. Have a lovely week.

I think I’d have to go “No” with 1 and 4, but a big fat “Yes” for all the rest. I sense you have a rebel streak in you, Patricia, but I don’t think you’d take advantage of the disabled or text while driving like a teenager. In my (cough, cough) younger days, I once got three speeding tickets within a one-month period. My subsequent killer insurance premium was enough to slow my speed…or maybe just be a little more vigilant for looking for cop cars :).

Haaaa. You sound like me. I once got 2 tickets in 2 days, both for speeding. Yikes!!!! Didn’t slow me down though, just more diligent about cop-spotting. I’m pretty good at that.
You think I’m a conscientious rebel – I can live with that. We’ll see you Thursday to see how well you think you know me.

I love that ride! So glad you got to experience it and be a race car driver for a limited time. Now the real question is: did your car win?
LikeLike
Hi Jessica. Good to see you.
I do believe my car won, although my husband, who was in the car next to me, claims that they won, so who knows. Since I was holding the camera the entire time, I wasn’t really paying attention to the race results, but rather, capturing a good video. I’m pretty sure we won though. We were in the red car and red cars always win right?
Thanks for stopping by.

Now don’t hold me to this Patricia, but I’m guessing #6 because it’s something I might do. lol. As far as car racing, you’re speaking my language girl. I would love to drive a racecar. Although I really like drag racing. That’s more my speed. Pardon the pun. Glad you had a great time with Mickey! And yes, red cars always win! 🙂

Hi Karen. So you’d try to slow down traffic if you knew the cops were watching? If only the drivers behind would offer their thanks, that’d make the gesture so worth it.
Drag racing? That’s cool. I used to drag race when I was a teen-ager. Ssssshhh. The road we used is now a heavily traveled main thoroughfare, but back in the day it was just a two-lane road in the middle of nowhere.
Red cars always win – I’m pretty sure of it.
Thanks for stopping by.

I’m leaving 1, 4, and 8. Oh, and that ride looks like fun.

Hi Pat. Seems like the majority favor me leaving the handicapped parking spaces alone. We’ll have to see about that tomorrow.
The ride was fun and what’s cool about it, is that pretty little kids can ride, yet it’s enough of a thrill that adults dig it. Sometimes the rides designed for the little ones don’t have much of a thrill factor for the bigger ones. This one seems to have met in the middle.
See you tomorrow for the unveiling of the answers and this month’s winner.

So it’s Thursday and I know you’re all dying to know how reckless I am. Here are the answers:
1 – Although I have done it in the past (I used my mom’s temporary placard), I will not do it again. The fine is outrageous – so leave it.
2 – I run the stop signs by my house all the time. I’m not even sure why one of them is there. Nobody stops at it. – so take it.
3 – Although I usually don’t, I will tailgate someone driving obnoxiously slow. – so take it.
4 – Text while driving? Nope, no way, never. – leave it
5 – Talk on the phone while driving? I’m not in favor of it, but I have done it and probably will do it again. – I’d have to say take it.
6 – Deliberately drive slow in a speed trap area – HELL YES! – take it.
7 – Tap my brakes for a tailgater? Yes, do it all the time. – Take it.
8 – Drive without wearing my seatbelt. – No. I was in an accident when I was a teenager and saw first hand how they save lives. – leave it.
9 – Double park? No. I like my car too much and don’t want it smacked or towed. – leave it.
10 – Use the carpool lane to pass a slow moving vehicle? Yes. I always look long and hard many times before doing it because the fine is hefty, but I have done it and I know I will do it again. – take it.
Here’s how you all did?
Pat – You were nearly perfect – 9 right. If you contact me at jansen (dot) schmist (at) yahoo before next Thursday, I will forward you your Amazon gift card.
Jennette and CJ each got 8 right. Not bad ladies.
Coleen P and Kathy each got 7 right. Woo Hoo!
Karen – I’m not sure if you were playing or not, but the one you guessed I’d do, I would, so you got 1 right.
Thank you everyone for playing. I hope to see you next month for more exciting Would I or Wouldn’t I?
